Night People (2008-pres.)The term “super-group” is thrown around a lot, and the hype can often overshadow the results. Not so with Night People, one of the must understated and reclusive groups to coalesce in recent years. The core group is L.A. film-maker Matthew Buzzell, Sean Eden of the band Luna, and Noel Brown and Eric Kinlaw of the Cubists. David Bradberry (Debt of Nature) and David Voight (Enemies of the Secret Hide-Out) make contributions as well. However, most importantly for STE fans is Myshel Prasad’s connection with the group. So far much of the group is still clouded in mystery, but a debut full-length is on the way that should show why her name keeps popping up on the Night People Myspace.Snake Rattle Rattle Snake (2008-pres.)Drummer Kit Peltzel stayed in the Denver area and became a founding member of the collective known as Snake Rattle Rattle Snake, a surreal dance-punk band cemented by the strong vocals of Hayley Helmericks (Monofog). The group released their debut EP in January 2010, and their latest 7-inch in August. Both releases can be downloaded off of SRRS’s bandcamp site (4 for the EP and 2 for the 7-inch). Peltzel’s percussive drumming is the perfect backdrop to the rest of the band’s jagged playing. Check the group out for yourself (including their darkly striking website, http://www.snakerattlerattlesnake.com/).
